First Full Day

Where to begin? The flights after Atlanta were surprisingly pleasant. Two flights, one plane. I thought I was screwed when I realized I had the center seat in the center aisle, but sure enough nobody else was in my row. Therefore, three seats to myself, three pillows, and three blankets to keep my comfortable while I plugged myself full of Woodford Reserve whiskey and cokes while watching OnDemand movies. Not too bad. Three meals on the plane that were actually very tasty.

The final flight landed early, and my shuttle service was waiting. Because I arrived early I was able to catch the International representative in her office just before she went home. She was surprised to find out that I have not received housing arrangements, but set me up in the International House for the evening (now turning into two nights).

Got in, chatted with my neighbor for a while, and settled in for the evening. Woke up about 4am fully rested, so I set off exploring until 8am when the offices opened again. It is now 11am the same day and I am still awaiting a permanent housing assignment and notification on whether or not I received a scholarship. Have to return to the International Office this afternoon.

This campus is beyond describable. Above is a picture of where I live at the moment, hopefully permanently.

First, there are cats all over the place. Perhaps to control rodent population? Have not seen any rodents yet so maybe the cats are doing their job.

The architecture=amazing. There is an eclectic mix of architectural origins that make for a very unique appeal. Everywhere I look, lush greenery fills my view. The aromatic scents of all the indigenous plants is enchanting to say the least. I slept to the sound of tropical birds and rain hitting a reinforced tin roof. Something about that sound that hits a certain note in the soul...

Found out that I got a full ride complete tuition fees paid for!!!!!!!!!!!! Still don't know my permanent residence though! Ha. More to come.
